The RugWash History & People

RugWash has been servicing the Brisbane area since Hans Fischer, doyen of the Melbourne Carpet and Rug Cleaning fraternity, moved to Brisbane after 40 years of expert cleaning in Melbourne. He was one of the most experienced rug washers in the world. Hans was the first and only person to introduce proper washing of rugs (as opposed to steam cleaning, shampooing and chemical cleaning) to Melbourne and Brisbane. The RugWash cleaning technique of washing, copies the cleaning techniques used in Persia and other rug weaving areas of the Middle East.

Stephen Muncey has continued the professionalism, experience and "old fashioned" customer service that has been the trademark of the RugWash brand.

Stephen has professional and personal connections within both the American and European rug cleaning communities and continues to invest considerable time and resources to ensure that RugWash stays at the forefront of industry.

Stephen holds several Australian and international rug cleaning accreditations; it is, however, his true passion for rugs that stands him apart within the Brisbane and South East Queensland rug cleaning industry.
